Brian Crow is a software and data science expert who has spent his career empowering utilities to improve their operations with data. He began his career as an electrical distribution engineer at an electric utility in Georgia where he piloted early technology in the emerging advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) space. The pilot sparked Brian’s interest in electric grid data that can enable utilities to operate more efficiently and inspired him to found Verdeeco in 2009 alongside select business partners. Brian’s focus at Verdeeco was bringing big data management and cloud computing applications to utilities.
In 2014, Sensus acquired Verdeeco. Brian, then CEO at Verdeeco, went on to lead software engineering and data science for Sensus through its acquisition by Xylem in 2016. Brian now serves as Chief Software Officer for Xylem and leads the organization’s big data and data science strategies. He is also responsible for Sensus software development execution, UI/UX strategy for merging all Xylem software applications, the Global SW Production (SaaS) operations and developing the Xylem corporate software governance structure. Brian holds a BSAE degree in engineering from the University of Georgia and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Georgia.
