Kamara Jeffrey is a Senior Project Manager in the Circular Economy and Innovation business unit within the City of Toronto's Solid Waste Management Services Division. She leads several strategic initiatives to advance Toronto’s aspirational goal of becoming the first municipality in Ontario with a circular economy. Her current focus is implementing innovation pilots that integrate circular economy principles into City programming, policies, and operations. In 2019, as part of an innovative public-private collaboration, Kamara coordinated the execution of a proof-of-concept pilot aimed at exploring how smart technologies could be applied to the City’s waste collection fleet to enhance circularity, sustainability, and service delivery.
In summer 2020, Kamara was also involved in advancing the City’s COVID-19 recovery efforts through her role as an Associate Lead of Government and Financial Renewal in Toronto’s Office of Recovery and Rebuild. Prior to joining the City of Toronto in 2017, Kamara gained broad research and strategic policy experience in academia, the Ontario provincial government, and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
Kamara holds a Ph.D. in Intergovernmental Relations from the University of Toronto.
