GROUP MANAGER III-CYBER SECURITY & RESILIENCE

National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)

Eliza Hotchkiss is a Senior Analyst and Technical Group Manager developing and leading the Resilient Systems Design and Engineering Group within NREL’s Energy Security and Resilience Center. Eliza’s areas of expertise include leading disaster recovery, resilience, and sustainable development efforts. Her focus is on analysis and outreach to increase deployment of resilient technologies and best practices within infrastructure systems. As part of a team of experts deployed across the nation to support FEMA with disaster recovery, Eliza has seen the impacts of natural disasters on communities first-hand, and contributed to numerous recovery and preparedness plans since 2012. Those lessons have been applied in the Caribbean, Pacific Islands, Africa, and across the United States to identify ways to increase the resilience of communities and nations. Eliza led the Colorado project for resiliency for the White House Council on Environmental Quality under the Obama administration, the results of which have been developed into a Resilience Roadmap for broader replicability to enhance resilient communities across the U.S. As a co-PI on an NREL LDRD relating to the Value of Resilience, Eliza led research on metrics for resilience, valuation, and monetization of resilience solutions.
