Charlie Nobles is a telecom and energy veteran with 25 years of experience leading diverse sales, marketing, and product development teams. Charlie is the VP of Sales for Ubicquia, a global smart cities leader which offers municipalities, utilities, and service providers a cost-effective, reliable, and modular platform for deploying Smart Cities and broadband services. Charlie heads Ubicquia’s utilities segment, bringing a deep track record of success as Director of Metering for Progress Energy (now Duke Energy Progress).
In addition to his experience leading the metering organization at Progress Energy, Charlie also oversaw the complex evaluation and selection process of the utility’s electric AMI solution. Charlie also held senior management positions at Tyco Electronics and Sensus, where he brought key utility solutions to market, and lead sales to both distribution and transmission utility companies. At Sensus, Charlie managed a diverse sales and marketing team, which distributed smart lighting and smart city solutions globally.
Charlie is also a recognized leader in the utilities field. He is an active member of several ANSI committees on outdoor lighting, and has taught numerous smart lighting controls programs at the IES Street & Area Lighting Conference for the last four years. Charlie holds a B.S and M.S in Engineering from Duke University, and an MBA from Kenan Flagler Business School.
