Jina Propst is the Interim Director for the City of Durham’s General Services Department, where she leads a multi-faceted workforce of more than 120 employees. The General Services Department builds and maintains City properties to make Durham a great place for people to live, work and play. Guided by the City’s Strategic Plan, the Department’s core functions include the acquisition and sale of properties, design and management of new construction and renovation projects, sustainability and energy management, building maintenance, landscaping and urban forestry services, cemeteries management, cultural and public art program management, and supporting the nonprofit Keep Durham Beautiful.
Jina has been with the General Services Department, for 14 years and brings a unique and diverse background to her role in the public realm. Prior to joining the City, Jina was an attorney in private practice, with a primary legal focus in construction litigation, representing owners, general contractors, and subcontractors. Jina received a BA from Wake Forest University in 1992, graduating cum laude, with a History Major and an Art History Minor and graduated from the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, Campbell University in 1998.
