Hakeem Miles is the Sr. IT Portfolio Manager for the Information Technology Services department at the City of San Antonio, Texas. Hakeem’s day to day activities include managing and overseeing a diverse area of operations, including but not limited to; fiber optic deployments throughout the City of San Antonio, upgrading legacy data center infrastructure, working with and across multiple departments to coordinate enterprise projects.
Hakeem has also had an active role in providing leadership and execution for SmartSA initiatives. Working with CPS Energy, San Antonio River Authority, VIA Metropolitan Transit, San Antonio Housing Authority, San Antonio Water System and Bexar County Appraisal District, he has been instrumental in creating the SmartSA strategic plan, developing a joint inter-local data sharing agreement and working with the SmartSA partners to maintain the joint SmartSA project portfolio.
Prior to his current role with the City of San Antonio, Hakeem spent 6 years in the construction industry as a project manager in the Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio area. He led and oversaw deployment of the telecommunications, security and special systems for DFW airport. He was also a part of the project team that constructed the San Antonio International Airport, Terminal B.
Hakeem earned a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science from Texas A&M University, College Station in 2005. While at Texas A&M Hakeem Miles was a member of the Corps of Cadets and had the opportunity to serve as a Ross Volunteer, which is the honor guard for the Governor of Texas. Hakeem has been married for 13 years and has a young son that he enjoys going to the gym with.
