Shannon Macika is the Global Research & Insights Lead and a Senior Smart City Advisor at BABLE Smart Cities, a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Institute accelerating sustainable innovation across cities worldwide. Based in the Washington, D.C. area, she leads BABLE’s U.S. expansion and global research portfolio, supporting projects with both public and private sector partners that bridge technology, governance, and community impact. Drawing on her background in public health and systems thinking, Shannon helps cities reimagine how data, policy, and design can drive climate resilience and equitable transformation. Her work focuses on translating complex research and policy frameworks into actionable strategies that enable cities to scale impactful, evidence-based solutions.
