Jonathan Beam works at US Ignite, a high-tech research nonprofit that helps to accelerate and advance the Smart City Movement. At US Ignite, he serves as the Manager of Community Innovation where he works with a diverse array of partner communities and researchers to foster innovation and encourage experimentation in the design and delivery of smart city services. Jonathan served as a member of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Build Back Better Infrastructure Task Force on the Technology and Innovation Subcommittee.
Prior to joining US Ignite, Jonathan managed programs, policy engagement, and external affairs for the Massive Data Institute at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy. Before Georgetown, he worked on a number of federal political campaigns, working for candidates for President and for the US House and Senate. He also spent several years in the nonprofit sector as a development officer.
Jonathan has a BA in Political Science from Emory University and a Master of Public Policy from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan. He lives in Washington, D.C., with his husband, Joe, and their cat, Lady Chesapeake.
