Manuel "Manny" A. Morales served as the 43rd Chief of Police for the City of Miami from 2022 until his retirement in 2026, concluding more than three decades of distinguished service with the Miami Police Department. During his tenure as chief, the department achieved historic reductions in violent crime while advancing initiatives focused on reducing gun violence, strengthening community trust, and supporting officer wellness. A U.S. Army veteran, Morales rose through every rank of the department after joining MPD in 1994 and held leadership roles across patrol, investigations, tactical operations, and field services. He holds degrees from St. Thomas University and the Naval Postgraduate School and was honored with the 2024 Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his lifelong commitment to public service.
