Josh Schacht (he/him) serves as the Smart Mobility Program Manager for the City of Alexandria, Virginia. He works at the intersection of data and transportation, exploring how new technologies and processes can support safer and more effective streets. Prior to his role at the City, Josh worked at a DC nonprofit called MetroLab, where he launched the first iteration of the Civic Innovation Challenge (CIVIC). CIVIC is a first-of-its-kind research and action competition funded by the National Science Foundation that supports teams of civic and academic partners in tackling local mobility and resilience problems. Before this he worked on the Master Data Management team at Katerra, a company building affordable housing with Cross Laminated Timber.
