Nelson Gonzalez is a cybersecurity professional with over two decades of expertise in information assurance as well as innovation and technology management. Mr. Gonzalez currently serves as the Assistant Information Technology Director and CISO for the City of Coral Gables as well as the Local Agency Security Officer for the Coral Gables Police Agency. Throughout his career, Mr. Gonzalez has led architecture, design, security, modernization, and maintenance across complex municipal networks. He has authored many municipal policies, procedures, strategies and manages ongoing municipality and agency compliance programs designed to adhere to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCIDSS), and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) compliance.
Most notably, Mr. Gonzalez played a crucial role in the design-build and modernization of the City of Coral Gables’ award-winning Smart City and Smart Policing environment. He has also played a key role in obtaining grant funding used to upgrade and modernize Coral Gables’ 911 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Mr. Gonzalez frequently speaks on matters related to cybersecurity and information assurance and has written several articles on these and related topics.
