Genesis currently serves as the Special Assistant to the City Manager for the City of Austin. In this role, she drives organizational change to advance Austin's prosperity through strategic initiatives and partnerships. She champions forward-thinking strategies that enhance the City's ability to withstand and adapt to various challenges, while leveraging the strengths of anchor institutions to catalyze positive change.
Genesis has more than a decade of progressive experience in local government, most recently serving as Chief of Staff and Resilience Officer for the City of Dallas. As Chief of Staff, she navigated complex organizational structures and drove impactful change by spearheading initiatives focused on enhancing operational efficiency, fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, and ensuring strategic alignment with overarching goals. As Resilience Officer, she led the implementation of the Resilient Dallas Strategy, Broadband and Digital Equity Strategic Plan, and SmartCities initiatives.
Genesis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus on management and operations from Washington State University, a Master’s in Public Administration, and a certificate in nonprofit management from the University of Washington, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Public Administration and Public Policy at the University of Texas at Arlington.
